Thank you so much to Eliza @ Invoked Reverie for tagging me to do the Sunshine Blogger Award, which marks my third time doing this sort of post (first and second). Highly recommend you head over and check out her blog because her content is amazing. Definitely worth the time and a follow!

What social stigma do you think society needs to get over?

Wow, what a list I could dive into here. The stigma surrounding mental health (the normalisation and romanisation of it and the fact it is normal), abortion (let people do whatever they want with their baby carrying bodies), slut-shaming (let woman sexually explore their body), the friend-zone (doesn’t exist, try again). I literally am so anti-social stigma and am always in some kind of argument due to peoples ignorance.

What’s the story behind the name of your blog?

My nickname growing up was Bambi and Ambi Bambi. As I hit adulthood I didn’t like the idea of such a childish nickname, plus I was feeling salty at the girls who gave it to me. I gave myself a new nickname (so cool, much wow) which is Ambs – there isn’t much you can do with Amber. When I made my Bookstagram account (no longer active) I chose ‘AmbsReads’ as the name because Ambs does in fact read (so literal, much smart). I just carried it forward into most of my social media profiles.

Favourite style of a blog post to write?

Reviews! I read a lot of books so my blog is mainly about reviews. I know everyone says that they don’t get as many hits as book tags and book discussions but I’ve found that to be incredibly false.

F O U R

If you could rewrite a popular book what would you choose, and what would you change?

Moxie. I loved it when I read it but now that I’ve looked back it wasn’t showing enough intersectional feminism and could have been tweaked a little better. My original review can be found here.

Where do you get blogging inspiration from?

The books I read considering I mainly post reviews. However, sometimes I get furious by a post I’ve seen or a comment been made to me or I’ve seen something happen on Twitter I just have to talk about. The ideas hit randomly but I’ve only really recently started doing discussions so it’s all so new.

Your favourite book blogger & book tubers? (five of each)

I don’t watch booktube. If you have some favourite booktubers drop them in the comments!

I’m also highkey lazy to do the book blogger part of this question. I’m so sorry! I just love too many blogs.

Favourite character names in the world? ( 10 at the most )

I rarely think of characters names when I’m reading, oops. I guess this will just be a list of the names that come to mind when I hear this question.

  1. Annabeth
  2. Feyre
  3. Isabelle
  4. Nova
  5. Audrey
  6. Thomas
  7. William
  8. Percy
  9. Julian
  10. Henry

Wow, oh wow I am white. I really struggled with this question. Almost every character name I liked left my head.

What is your blogging routine & schedule? Do you follow an editorial calendar?

I write when I want. Sometimes I write four reviews in a day, sometimes I’m on top of it. Sometimes I do six blog tags in an hour. It really just depends. My schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Friday though. It may be different days for you, but those are the days I schedule for in Australia.

What makes you follow a blog?

Graphics that make me jealous because ya girl didn’t do well in graphic design. I also make sure we read similar books and I enjoy reading the content.

T E N

Are you a writer? If so, could you give us a few of your favourite snippets of any of your WIPs?

It’s been a long time since I wrote anything. I just haven’t been inspired. The last things I wrote were for my first year of university (in my final year now). I do love writing so let me include a small snippet from my first-year work.

The overpowering scent of faecal matter, urine and decaying bodies filled the room. Eliza couldn’t escape the odour even if she breathed through her mouth. The scent was so uncontrollable that she doubted even if she could make it out of this alive she would get the smell out of her skin. It seemed unlikely, but so was the thought that it was possible for her to leave the scenario alive.

What is the next goal you are striving for in blogging?

I recently hit 300 followers (or a month ago because I scheduled this). My next goal is to hit 400 followers and 10,000 views. I want to get my content out to as many people as I can because this is something I am so passionate about. (EDIT: I’ve hit all these numbers!)

  2. I love this post, and the fact that it’s so much deeper than I’d anticipated. Your answer to the first question is so relatable, and I genuinely am so happy to see you address these issues. And I’ve actually found the same to be true, when it comes to reviews! Some of my most “popular” posts have been book reviews. 🙂

Thank you so, so much for the nomination! I can’t wait to get to your questions. ❤

    • Thank you so much Lily! I’m glad that you enjoyed this post. I’m also happy that you relate to the stigmas I brought up!

I can’t wait to see your answers if you do end up doing this post 💜

  3. Thank you for tagging me! I love your answer to #1 especially – yes to ALL of that. Also, what you said about Moxie is spot on. Looking back, I also wish I’d paid more attention to how much that story actually lacked. I think at the time that I read it, I was just so excited to be reading a book so heavily inspired by the feminist movement that I forgot to think as critically as I should’ve. And I love your writing snippet! ❤

I’m so glad you support me on number one, I was so nervous typing it all out but this is reassuring.
I’m also glad I’m not alone on Moxie. It was the first book I read that focused so wholely on feminism and I had only just learnt to get over the horrific stigma of it so it was so damn exciting in that moment that I didn’t realise what was wrong with it until I started seeing criticisms.
Thank you so much for your comment Destiny! ❤
