1. What is the longest slump you’ve ever been in?

I slumped for around three years one time. Every time I picked up a book I just didn’t care and my friends told me reading was lame. I was pretty desperate to fit in during my young teen life, unfortunately.

2. Do you prefer ARCs or finished copies of books?

It depends! I have received a few physical ARC’s and I always feel super special when they come. I typically request finished copies of the book though, since that is what Australian publishers are more likely to send out.

3. What is your favourite review you’ve ever written (not based on views/likes, but your feelings)?

It is both my favourite review I’ve written and my most popular. My Zenith review is still one of my favourites. I received an eARC and I just went off. It was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. Click here to see this review.

I also really like my The Wicked Deep review. I’m not sure why but I think it’s because it’s another book I didn’t enjoy that everyone seems to. Click here to see my review.

4. What was the last song you fell in love with?

I’m pretty behind on music honestly, but I’ve been listening to the Panic! At The Disco Pray For The Wicked album basically non stop. By the time this is posted it will 100% be a new song considering I am writing this at the end of July.

5. What type of YouTube videos do you most commonly watch?

True crime! I absolutely love true crime videos. Especially when I have an arthritis flare up and can’t move during the day. I just love to sit around and scare myself with real-life events that have happened.

6. Do you have a favourite holiday? If so, why did you pick it?

Christmas. My birthday is December 19th so Christmas is both my favourite and least favourite holiday. People tend to forget my birthday and just focus on Christmas or my sisters birthday (she’s the 14th of December). However, I look at Christmas as a week-long celebration for me, oops.

7. Be honest: have you ever bought a book mostly just for its cover?

I have no shame when I say yes. I bought Strange The Dreamer purely because of the cover and soooo many more books.

8. Do you like to keep your books pristine, or “live in” them with highlighters, tabs, annotations, etc.?

I don’t read physical books often, my Kindle allows me to read faster. However, I have managed to keep my books pristine. That’s not because I typically want them to be, I just get scared of writing in them because I am not neat at all.

9. What is the most money you’ve ever spent on one book, and would you do it again?

I can’t remember exactly but probably $50 AUD. That was for the Hamilton book and I would 100% do it again. I absolutely loved that book and it is such a work of art. Or it could be my limited edition (the Waterstone editions) of Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows. They’re so pretty and were worth every cent.

10. Do you use any method to keep track of your TBR, like a TBR jar, spreadsheet, notebook, etc.?

Nope! I use Goodreads as a way to keep track of my TBR but I am always adding books and reading new books that it gets disregarded sometimes. I just tend to read what I am personally in the mood for.

11. Roughly estimate this one: how many more books can you fit on your current shelves before needing a new bookcase?

I have six shelves free (which sounds like a lot but 15 are full). This roughly equals 111 books I would say! I am super bad at math so I am probably way off on this one.

  3. What book are you anticipating most in 2019?
  4. How do you organise your bookshelves? I need ideas so this is me being sneaky.
  5. What destination in any book would you love to visit?

  1. Okay, first of all, I love you SO MUCH and you are one of my absolute faves and you are so sweet and STOP MAKING ME CRY, AMBER. ♥

Second, dude, your slump answer – I felt that. I slumped for a few years straight once, when I was in my late teens/early twenties, and it was BRUTAL. I missed reading so much but I just could not deal with it. It’s funny that you mentioned that your friends told you it was lame – with me, it was my asshole ex. He read sometimes so he didn’t totally hate reading, but he didn’t think any books were worth picking up unless they were adult thrillers, so any time I read anything else, I felt super judged? And let me tell you, you can only read so many Dean Koontz titles in one year before you hit a slump. (As in, like, three. Max.)

Also, YES to the new P!@tD album. I actually listened to that entire album while running errands this morning. I think I’ve listened to it maybe 40 times from start to finish plus listening to songs off of it randomly here and there and I just never get tired of it?

    • I love you so much Destiny! ❤

Oh God, I can definitely understand the Dean Koontz thing. My mum read one of his books and then recommended it to me, I could not get through it. It would be so difficult to binge read those or just only read them. What an absolute asshole though. I’m so glad you’re with someone now who you can be yourself with and read whatever you want without embarassment ❤

Holy shit, you are i c o n i c! I think I’ve done the same while doing university assignments. It is such a damn bop, honestly. I played it while me and my friend did a three hour road trip the other day as well.

      • Hahaha I do not blame you AT ALL for not being able to get through the Koontz book! You know what bugs me about him honestly (besides his being a Republican who donated something like $1 million to the Republican primary presidential candidate back in 2012, gross), is that he acts like being called a horror author is a huge insult. He used to write horror when he first started, and as soon as people called him a horror author instead of a thriller/fantasy author, he legit flipped his shit and stopped writing anything “scary” and basically told people to stop saying that about him. How childish and gross can you be? Sigh. I wish I didn’t still low key love a few of his books but if I ever re-purchase them (the ex kept them all when I left him), I’ll 100% buy them used so he doesn’t get a penny. 😛 And thank you, I’m so glad to be away from that situation!!

  2. I had to laugh a little that you liked your Zenith review because it was so bad. I’ve, unfortunately, seen a lot of reviews saying it wasn’t particularly good. That’s a shame.

I love true crime videos, too! I’m actually listening to a YouTube vid about people disappearing in the woods as I read this. Because, you know, sleep is overrated and comes second to freaking myself out. XD

    • hahaha, it was definitely unfortunate! I do love writing reviews for books I didn’t enjoy though, I always need to get those feelings out straight away or else I just get cranky.

Oh my gosh, sleep is not needed! I am the exact same. What true crime YouTubers do you watch?

      • I actually don’t tend to follow anyone specifically. I usually go based on recommendations and bounce around. I mean, I follow Buzzfeed Unsolved, which is … different, but they do some crime things, and they make me laugh. Sometimes I’ll watch Tops 5s, when I’m short on time, with their, like, Top 5 People Who Mysteriously Disappeared or were brutally murdered or whatever it is they do. xD But I think, for the most part, for like documentaries and things, I just bounce around to whatever YouTube suggests. If you have anyone I should follow, I’d love to know!

      • Buzzfeed Unsolved is great, I love the dynamic of the guys! That’s really interesting. I’ll have to try that! Documentaries sometimes bore me because they’re so long, do you have any favourites?
I typically watch Danielle Hallen, Georgia Marie and Eleanor Neale on YouTube! I’m still getting in to the genre but it’s great!

      • Oooh, the people you mentioned look great! I’ll have to give them a listen tonight. I usually look for shorter things, 20 minutes or under, because my listening time tends to be shorter.

It’s slightly different, not quite true crime, but I recently found Scary Mysteries, and I’ve been listening to some things on their channel. They’re entertaining. Rob Dyke used to be good, but he sort of disappeared, and now his new stuff is … different. He’s still entertaining, but it’s more hit or miss for me personally.

Ahhhh I actually don’t remember others. xD It’s been a few months since I looked for anyone specific other than following recommendations. And honestly, I’ve been listening to a lot of either Let’s Read or just world mysteries lately (like TopTenz and just random mystery lists). I go through true crime in cycles, and then when I burn out on it, I listen to something else for a while.
