Hi everyone, how are you?
Have you ever seen a cover that made you feel things? Like, at the bottom of your soul you were being screamed at by this cover that this would be one of the best books you have read in your entire life? My Shadowhunter Chronicles trash heart has experienced that with Chain of Gold.Read More »
I know I have a post about yelling at people to stop excusing abusive behaviour. I’m here to now explore the topic about books that explore unhealthy relationships and friendships and romanticise them. These are the books that promote negative, jealous behaviours in relationships that are really clear warning signs to get out of a relationship. Basically, it really is just an extension of my stop excusing abusive behaviour post which you can read here.
I read so many incredible books in 2018. I was truly blown away by the content I was reading and absolutely adoring. It seemed at some stages I found some new favourite authors. They were everything I could have wanted and they made 2018 one of my best reading years to date. Something I can’t believe. Obviously, this is not a complete wrap-up of what I loved in the year and I am sure that I will stumble across something else when this goes live, as is my life. However, at this moment here is a list of the best books I read in 2018. Turns out I had a lot of favourite books, oops.
Going to keep this introduction short because there are quite a few books. So, without any more babbling from me – these are the best books of 2018. I did try to keep it specific to 2018 releases as well, but one 2019 release did sneak in. This list also isn’t in order.
This may be my favourite post I have had the opportunity to write this entire year. I am someone who thrives on reading people’s negative thoughts, even if it is a series or book that I adored. I am all for differing opinions and I love a critique. I read some amazing books in 2018, quite a few mediocre ones and not as many disappointing books as I had previously thought. Looking at this list, it is definitely not the longest one that I have had. However, I am excited to share it with y’all!
If you disagree with any of my thoughts, that is absolutely fine. These are my opinions and my opinions alone. I also do require two books that release in January 2019 and that is because the disappointment that overcame me was so strong they had to be included. They were two of my most anticipated releases and now they definitely are not. I’m also posting this pretty early, so oops if I end up hating any more books before the year is up.
Anyway, let’s jump into this list!
Throughout my blogging experience, I have discovered so many incredible people. Some of them I am friends with and some of them I have never interacted with. I wanted to make a post that highlights these people and just really promotes their voices. I feel I don’t do enough of that on my blog and all these people write such incredible blog posts that I am always in awe of what they do.
If you want to check out any of these people (and I obviously highly suggest that you do) click on their names and you will be sent to their blogs. Despite not interacting with everyone personally, I am sure that they are all absolutely beautiful people. Their content is definitely worth your time though. These are the people who’s notifications I have turned on and anxiously await new content.
Today is also my university graduations, so your girl is officially free from all that tertiary education stuff.
If you’ve spent even a small amount of time on my blog you probably know I love romance novels. I am a big YA reader but sometimes I just can’t get into those stories and need a good smutty romance to push me through. I am not ashamed of it. Unless your my mother, then leave this list because you do not need to read any of this.
Sometimes a good romance, one with not very much drama, is just what you need to help you when you’re in a funk. Not everyone can read heavy fantasy when suffering from something in their personal life. So, I am here to recommend six of my favourite romance books. These are books I have absolutely adored and want to shout from the heavens.
If you are someone who thinks romance is too ‘cringe’ or ‘boring’ this list definitely isn’t for you. These are some of the romance books that have had me squealing into a pillow or smiling ridiculously in public. These are the books I believe could cure any slump.
Time for another discussion post!
I am so excited to tell y’all ten things I absolutely love to see in books. This is primarily focused on contemporary books but it can come in to play with absolutely everything I read. I just love these themes or just inclusions in the books I read. This is a bit of a rambly post but stay tuned to find out things that basically have me itching to pick up a book.
What do you love to see in books you read? Tell me more in the comments below!
This post is a mess. I know I say that in all my discussion posts. However, this one may be my biggest mess yet. It was a strange take on the topic of Rhysand. I just don’t like him and I really think people overhype him.
Are trigger warnings spoilers? Short answer, no.
